Janette Kerr (Peter's Gazette) "A masterpiece with illustration detail which works on many levels. An entertaining read for both adults and children which made me laugh out loud at times.
Books For Keeps "Right away, from the vulgar nose-picking and tongue-poking loonies depicted on the cover, we know we’re in for some rude and naughty bears who can’t wait to give that subversive thrill kids so adore. And the promise is rewarded, for these hairy creatures romp across the pages, bar the doors and hang from the chandeliers. Dynamic compositions and jolly palette allow us not take this anxious story too seriously while chalky textures and simple patterns keep the images bold and varied viewpoints keep the scale lively. The characters are definitely not sweet and the cat who mirrors the boy’s feelings is wonderfully quirky. Kids will enjoy the fun."
Book of the Year Nomination: Peter Gazette "Engaging tale with lots of detail and character expression to pore over in the illustrations. Another excellent, amusing winner from this pairing.
The Teacher (Janey Hulme) "Very funny tale, brilliantly illustrated, to catch the eye of all little folk and disbelieving adults."
Nursery World "A funny and touching story of childhood anxiety, without being scary - the bears might be rude and naughty, but they're never threatening."
