In August 2005, I spent a week walking from village to village in the tree-clad hills of the Apuane Alps in Tuscany, with my husband. After a day of trekking I was usually far too exhausted to do much drawing, but we did take a couple of days off where I managed some sketching: one in the tiny Fornolovasco, another in the medieval, walled city of Lucca, at the trip's end.
